What makes you stop using an EA?
I'm curious about this because I've had EAs that looked promising at first but became difficult to trust after seeing how they behaved in live trading.For me, the biggest warning signs are:[*]Drawdown getting much higher than expected
[*]Performance changing significantly from the backtest
[*]Too many trades during bad market conditions
[*]Heavy reliance on aggressive recovery strategies
[*]No clear risk management
I'm testing a different EA at the moment and so far the experience has been interesting, but I'm still watching how it handles different market conditions.What's the main reason that would make you stop using an EA, even if it had been profitable before?

If drawdown, trade frequency, or recovery behavior starts deviating from the expected profile, I would stop and reassess. Thanks man I'm mainly interested in how it holds up in different market conditions. That's usually where you really see whether an EA is worth trusting.

I agree with you. A few losing trades wouldn't necessarily make me stop either. For me, it's when the EA starts behaving differently from what I expected especially with drawdown or recovery. That change in risk behavior is a much bigger warning sign.

Couldn't agree more, which is why I'm really sticking with my current EA. Having built-in features like an equity protector gives that peace of mind against unexpected market moves or erratic trading behavior consistent risk management is definitely everything saduddin 发表于 2026-10-1 10:44

Yeah, I agree. I also pay more attention to how the EA behaves during different market conditions. If the risk management starts changing or the drawdown becomes abnormal, that's when I'd seriously consider stopping it. That's actually one of the reasons I keep using the EA I'm currently on it has a built-in equity protector, which gives me an extra layer of protection when things move unexpectedly.
